Going to college represents both present and future success for me and lets the world know that I made it this far despite the many trials and errors: left hand stunted at birth (Ambiotic Band Syndrome - ABS/Amniotic Constriction Band Syndrome - ACBS), wrong choice of "friends", negative behavior and finally counseling.
But I'm here - stronger than ever - with a wonderful opportunity to achieve the high goals I have set for myself and the determination to meet milestones head on. I will need an additional $7500, however, to begin my first year. Unfortunately, the loans I was able to get don't cover all the expenses.
And, though my parents tried their best to put college money aside - five children, hurricane Sandy, weeks of homelessness, unexpected hardships and expenses after Sandy - greedily gobbled up the college money. Your donations to my campaign - no matter how big or small - will help me realize my career dream.
It was my own physical challenge that shaped my vision to become a Pediatric Physical Therapist - my career dream. Being a Pediatric Physical Therapist positions me so that I will not only physically help children and adults just like me but also positions me as a supportive and understanding friend to my patients, who also may be dealing with: rude stares, ridicule, alienation, cruel jokes and inadequacy.
