Sweet Tea Shakespeare wants to be HEARD! As we approach our 6th annual outdoor season with upcoming productions of Jane Eyre, The Tempest, and Pericles - Prince of Tyre, we're hoping to address one of our longest-standing needs facing our productions: personal microphones and sound amplification for our shows.
When folks come to our performances, they're treated to an event like know other -- live preshow music and entertainment, excellent performances, barbecue, beer, wine, dessert, and a whole lot more. Audiences LOVE Sweet Tea Shakespeare. But one of the most common things we hear from audiences is that they can sometimes have trouble hearing. With outdoor performances near the Martin Luther King, Jr. Freeway in Fayetteville, with passing trains and planes and with a large, live band, we certainly understand.
For years, we've made do with area mics and have added speakers and other amplification when we can. But it's time to take a big step forward in being audible for our growing audiences.
That's where you come in. We've obtained a quote from a local business who knows our capacity and our budget and they've put together a very competitive sound system with personal mics for 12 actors, a sound board and rack, and the other elements we need for wireless sound amplification. Now all we need are the funds. And -- here's the thing -- this is an urgent need so we can have the system ordered and in place for Jane Eyre in April.
