59th St. Elementary Entrepreneurship Program

My name is Sylvester Ani and I am raising funds to intergrate an entrepreneurship program into 59th St. Elementary by March 1st 2020. One of my biggest inspirations in trying to make this dream a reality was musician, community activist, and entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle. Nipsey was a huge advocate for kids in his south Los Angeles neighborhood. After he passed on from this life to the next , I  reached out to 59th Street Elementary School, where I started volunteering and bringing that same enthusiasm to the kids by trying to expose them to many important things such as tech education. The students have been rallying behind our slogan " Run For Touchdowns Not For Cover " as it is our responsibility as adults to create a safe environment where students are given the room to explore who they are as individuals, learn , play, & grow without feeling that their safety is a concern of theirs . With this entrepreneurship program students will begin  learning about organizations and companies, how those companies built their product and their brand, and how they market themselves. Following these examples, they develop their own business idea; a lemonade stand, selling friendship bracelets, or a dog-walking business, for example. Students then put together a mission statement and a business plan. Finally, students learn how to use digital editing software programs to create a logo, explore the concept of branding and use other digital tools to develop their first business!
