Rebuild Fund for Ronald Booth

THE STORY:
On Monday, July 25, 2017, my father, Ronald Booth, lost his home and virtually all of his possessions to a house fire.

On the day of the incident, while stepping out of his dentist appointment late morning across town in Santa Monica , my dad was hit with over 20 missed calls from various neighbors and loved ones with the tragic news.

My dad then rushed across town, just 2 miles Southeast of the USC campus, to his home to witness the aftermath of the tradgedy.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The house has been estimated to be a total loss at this point. Virtually all of my dad's possessions are gone. To make matters worse, unfortunately the house wasn't insured.

We are now in the process of re-strategizing and rebuilding.

While the next steps for my dad aren't concretely known, what is known is that, no matter the direction, rebuilding will require financial means and we welcome whatever contribution you feel so moved to make.
No contribution is too small and everything counts.

THE BOTTOM LINE:
The bottom line is no lives were lost, only material things, and I am ever so thankful. The day of the event was my dad's day off and he had heavily considered cancelling  his dentist appointment in favor of staying home to get some rest.

Not only was my dad very close to losing his life, other lives were at stake as a family friend was napping in the house when it happened; my brother, who lives there, also had the day off and just so happened to be out of the house; and other folks were slated to visit that day.

THE TAKE-AWAY:
Make sure you're insured, make sure you're knowledgable on fire safety, and may this tradgedy encourage you to not take the value of life and the value of your loved ones for granted as both can be taken from  any of us within moments without notice.
