The Cost-of-Living Has Taken on a Whole New Meaning
I have known Ron Marko for almost 30 years. I have been in business with him and he has been a next-door neighbor and has always been my good fortune to know and love. But now, he is facing the greatest challenge of his life.
He has cancer.
Ron went through traditional cancer treatment - chemotherapy - and it almost killed him. Due to now having no appetite and getting sick whenever he eats, he has lost about 60 lbs. But there is good news on the horizon. He has been accepted into a cancer treatment program where a specific protocol has been designed to address his specific cancer.
And now we have hope in a new treatment program from Dr. Forsythe in Reno. But that hope costs about $50,000. His first round of treatments has exhausted his medical insurance. And recently, his family had to pay almost $5,000 for the tests that would determine whether or not he is eligible for this hope. Now there is a formidable bill facing him; a bill that will give him the life we want for him from this hope.
His new treatment begins on March 12th and he has to pay in advance. Ron works for one of the greatest companies in Nevada, CustomInk, and they have been so supportive, but he has not worked for many months as he underwent his first series of treatments.
Let me explain: it's so easy to support Ron. He's not only one of my best friends but someone for whom there is no match. And anyone who knows him will say exactly the same thing.
When I first heard that his treatment would cost $50,000, my immediate response was: That's not so bad. 50 people giving $1,000 will take care of it. Or 100 people giving $500. or 500 people giving $100. Or anything anyone can spare will help.
His treatment begins soon and will be 5 days/week for three weeks. While all we, Ron's battalion of friends, want is for him to get well, the reality of the cost for him to live presses upon us all. We are all hoping you can help out - not just with money, but with prayers and love.
This is my dear friend and someone the world cannot yet spare.
