Diana Vaden and Family,
Cancer is awful. And the Vaden's need your help. Please share their story and please, please find an extra $5 or $10 or more to help them during this time of crisis. The contribution will relieve only a small portion of their financial worry and allow them to focus entirely on their beloved wife and mother during her last days.
Imagine you needing help for your mom, or wife, while she is under hospice care. Diane and Gary have spent their lives in public education serving so many wonderful kids and their community.
We hope the entire ROLL TIDE community will adopt them and Gary's hometown of Monahans, TX and the many towns they have lived in between.

Four years ago a life changing event occurred for Diana Vaden and her family. She asked her doctor about a mole on her right temple. The doctor removed it, confident that it was benign and not cancerous. The call that came only a few days later, would change the Vaden's life foreve, it was melanoma skin cancer.
After diagnoses, Diane underwent countless surgeries to remove areas that were being affected by melanoma. First was the rest of the mole, a gland in her cheek and even her tonsils after discovering they were black.
After the surgeries came treatment. She underwent chemo every day for a month followed by a strong round of radiation. After all of the surgeries and treatment the doctors felt confident they had eliminated the cancer.
A few months later Diana experienced a weird tingling sensation in her arm. She called her oncologist and he sent her in for a MRI of the brain. He informed her that the melanoma had in fact moved to her brain. The oncologist assured us that he would do all he could to remove the cancer once again. Diane once again bravely fought cancer and after doing well, the family made the move to Alabama.
Diana and her family, all lifelong fans of the University of Alabama (UA), moved to Tuscaloosa Alabama, after Dre, one of their daughters got accepted to UA. Gary was hired by UA and Diana loved attending all the UA sporting events. This was the last calm before the storms that this family was about to endure.
February of 2017 began a long road of storms and hardships for this family. Gary’s mom passed away from a stroke. His mom didn’t have life insurance and the cost fell to the family.
Exactly one month later, Diana was attending an Alabama softball game when she had a seizure. She was rushed to the ER and test later showed that she had a tumor on her brain that was bleeding. Diana underwent surgery and battled to recover quite well from it.
Then while visiting her family in Phoenix, she had another seizure. This seizure was caused by another tumor bleeding in the brain. Diana underwent two brain surgeries in a three-month span. Diana recovered again and kept her positive attitude.
Less than a month later, Diana began to notice that her recovery slowed. For the first time, she felt as if as though she was going backwards in her battle towards this disease. Her radiation oncologist ordered a MRI of the brain later that same day. Diana got the results back rather quickly. With her daughter, Dre, by her side she received the news that there was nothing more the doctors could do. The cancer had progressed beyond treatment and was taking over her brain.
Diana is now under hospice care at the hospice house in Alabama. She is getting worse every day and her days are limited.
The Vaden’s are a family that have always opened their hearts and have helped so many people. Diana and Gary have touched so many young people’s lives through their careers in public education. After all that they have done for so many it is time for us to return the favor and help them.
Their daughters adore their mother and have stood by their father, in her care and treatments.
Diana Vaden a wife, mother of two daughters, daughter, sister and friend. A beautiful woman that fought cancer and won many times, is now at the end of her journey awaiting the time her name is called to heaven.
