My Name is Tricia Riera, I am a close friend of the Callimarie family, Richard is like a nephew to me. His mom is like a sister to me.
Richard Callimarie is 16 years old, a volunteer firefighter, and a senior patrol leader of his boy scout troop. He has been a 4h member for the past 6 years. He was working to save money to attend college in the fall.
On Wednesday July 29th, while at a out of state camp, a campfire was getting to high, so he instructed the boys not to add anymore wood to the fire. Richard was walking around the firepit collecting the loose sticks and putting them back in the wood pile when he tripped falling foward into the firepit, 17 percent of his body suffered from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns. He was helicoptered to the local burn center where he was put in the ICU Unit. As of now he is out of ICU and is in a Burn Step Down Unit. He is making great strides to tolerate and manage pain, miraculously his lungs and face are in good shape. The worst burns are on his left arm, hand and Knee. He is healing well. The family is waiting on the Physician now for skin graphing. If anyone would like to help cover medical expenses as well as ongoing treatment, transportation for ongoing care once he is out of the hospital any and all donations are very much appreciated.
I can only imagine how quickly a families resources can be exhausted when a crisis like this happens. Would you help me support this exceptional young man?
