Restoring Noah from acute trauma injuries

Donation protected
As we await and look forward to the grace and goodness of our God we reflect on Psalm 30:5 “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”

On November 24th Sunday afternoon while Noah was riding a dirt bike at a ranch in Santa Ynez, he lost control, went into the road and hit the side of a truck and horse trailer. Noah received multiple, acute, injuries to his right arm and leg including multiple compound fractures, severed veins, tendons, muscles, and tearing in his nerve bundle. He was airlifted to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara where a team of acute trauma surgeons, specialists, and personnel went to work on him. Although rods and plates were placed in his upper and lower arm to set the bones, they could not repair his right leg, ankle, and foot at this time. Instead, metal fortifiers were placed around his lower leg, ankle, and foot and a wound vac has been set. He is currently in ICU trying to manage the pain as his body recovers from the first course of surgery and medical attention, while his team of specialists forms a plan for the extensive and multiple surgeries still ahead. In addition to the very delicate and precise surgeries needed for his bones, tendons, muscles, nerves, veins, and soft tissue, Noah will need graphing for his skin and soft tissue with follow-up plastic surgery to replace the loss of soft tissue structure.

As we lean on God we rest in Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Noah currently does not have feeling in his right arm and fingers. He will undergo intense Physical Therapy for his foot, leg, and arm. Insurance pushback is already causing reason for great concern regarding finding the best medical solutions and care in helping Noah during this restorative road to recovery.

Noah is finishing his last year at UCLA in pursuit of a degree in Physiological Sciences. He is currently in the process of applying to medical school for the 2020-2021 academic year, with aspirations of becoming a pediatric surgeon. Noah supplements his academic endeavors with a variety of extracurricular activities that showcase his passion for medicine, research, and athletics. He is a clinical research associate at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, a coordinator for a pre-medical club, an author in medical research, and an ultimate frisbee captain with UCLA’s club team - Smaug. Through all of his pursuits, Noah demonstrates his value for depth as much as breadth.

Jeremiah 29:11 "God has a great plan for you."

Noah has a long road ahead of him; schooling and his plans will be put on hold as Noah undergoes several surgeries and then countless hours of physical therapy. We don’t know what the insurance company will cover or how to meet the financial obligations of all that Noah will need. However, we rest on Jeremiah 29:11 as “God has a great plan for you.” and we trust that all of Noah’s needs will be met in a mighty way.
