Restore the Waterfront

Camp Dixie is a non-profit Christian Camp and Retreat Center located on 87 south of Fayetteville, NC. We serve as a year-round site for thousands of guests. Some attend our summer camp programs & retreats, while others attend a camp or retreat run by another non-profit group using our site.
On October 8, 2016, Hurricane Matthew dumped almost 15 inches of rain on us in less than 24 hours. The heavy rains caused a breach in our dam, destroying the entire waterfront recreational area where the BLOB platform used to be. In addition, the road connecting us to our hilltop lodging area was demolished by the flood waters. The uninsured devastation of these two areas combines to form a huge chasm – a gnarled mess of pine trees, cypress trees and other debris.
The rebuilding will take place in two phases. (see map below) Phase 1 will involve rebuilding the road to the Hilltop cabins. There are groups scheduled to use those areas year-round. Phase 2 will involve the rebuilding of the dam and waterfront area. We have not been able to get estimates for the construction of either phase at this time so we are setting the goal at $500,000 but the actual cost could be much higher. We will update here as costs become available.
Phase 1 – Rebuild the Road to Restore Access to the Hilltop Lodging Area
Our immediate need is to restore the access to the hilltop lodging areas in order to resume usage by retreat groups as soon as possible.

The waterfront area is a place of adventure, fun and key to so many of the memories campers make each summer. Help us as we seek to rebuild so that we can remain a place where Faith and Community Grow!
