Restoring the Tiffin Drive-In Theater “T” Neon Art
Art and Culture Project Summary:
Historic Drive-In Theater Revitalization fund is dedicated to enhancing the art and culture of communities served by a historic Drive-In theater by restoring one or more unique feature critical to the “identity” of that theater.
Restoring the Tiffin Drive-In Theater (Tiffin, Ohio) neon art to the original design from 1949 will be the nostalgic warm-glowing beacon to pull at the heart-strings of parents and grandparents who are yearning for a simpler time to share with their children and grandchildren.
There is enormous sociological benefit for families who spend quality time together. At the drive-in, families will laugh together while playing free games such as miniature golf, enjoy delicious fresh-popped corn and fountain drinks, then finally settle into their vehicle or set-up “camp” outside their vehicle to enjoy movies under the stars.
“I did this when I was your age!” can be heard from grandparents telling their grandchildren at the drive-in. There are many more memories to be made by families of all economic situations at the Tiffin Drive-In Theater!
The restored neon art at the drive-in will be the impetus to encourage families to:
· Talk about neon art
· Talk about drive-in theaters as a part of Americana
· Talk about memories made at the drive-in
· Spend family time together, unplugged
· Make new memories at the drive-in
