Kokos Village Community School

GOAL:

To finish the classrooms and add more children by the end of 2023!!

Covid really hit Kenya hard and the cost of living went up with it. Koko's Village was affected by the children not being able to attend school and get an education and daily meals. Our goal is to finish the classrooms we started before Covid, and bring back the students. To finish the classrooms we need a smooth floor, windows and doors, chalkboards and supplies which is about $3,500 per classroom. We have another 2 classrooms to finish. Without our school meal program most children will go hungry each day, and some come from very dysfunctional situations where daily food is not the norm.

I am planning another trip to Kitale Kenya summer of 2023 and would love to see these classrooms finished and in use!

WHO WE ARE:

Koko's Village is a private community Christian school and nutritional center, for orphans and vulnerable children from preschool-grade 4. Students receive quality education and food in a small, rural village called Sitatunga, about 13 miles from Kitale, Kenya. All children in the community are welcome and community members are encouraged to help as they can with food donations and farm labor. We currently have 7 classrooms, 8 teachers, 1 cook, and one groundskeeper/gardener.

Currently, there are over 60 students through grade 4, with the older students going to public school, although most do not continue as public schooling costs parents money. We have an immediate need to build new permanent classrooms and hire a new teacher to accommodate those students. 

EXTRA WAYS TO HELP:

To feed and educate a child, at Koko's, it takes only $25 per month.

To feed and educate a former Koko's Village child, in higher education, it takes only $55 per month.

To pay one teacher (we have 7) is $80 per month.
