Help Reinhard Straub, Stroke Survivor

In late March 2021, Reinhard took a ski trip to Whiteface Mountain in upstate NY. After I didn't hear from him on the day he was to return home, I knew something was very wrong. On Thursday, April 1st, 2021, it was discovered that Reinhard had suffered a severe stroke on the right side of his brain, affecting his mobility on the left side of his body. He's still his old self in many ways, but he cannot move his left arm or leg, bring himself to a seated position on his own, or walk. As we continue to care for him at home, we are finding that we need support such as home health aides and medical supplies that are not covered by insurance.

Reinhard owns an outpatient substance abuse clinic in Connecticut treating countless individuals with opiate problems and other addictions with a program focused on complete abstinence including alcohol.

This man has truly dedicated his life to helping people clean themselves up and would not give up on anyone. I used to tell people he was like the Expedia guy for rehab.

Back when I first met Reinhard, I extended my hand and promised him that I would always treat his then small, now grown, children, Alex, Ian & Katrina, well. This effort is me making good on that promise."
