Rebecca Allen Cancer Fundraiser

Rebecca Allen, our sweet wife, mother, sister and friend is leaving us, and we are shattered.

Rebecca's Story
In the fall of 2015 Rebecca was diagnosed with triple negative inflammatory breast cancer. The news terrified Rebecca as she had lost her sister to the same monstrous disease.  She underwent chemotherapy, radiation and a double mastectomy.  Rebecca was declared cancer free.  We all felt immense relief.  Our jubilation was short lived. Three months after this point, Rebecca began experiencing pain in her shoulder.  The cancer returned and had spread to her bones.   She was told that cancer would always be a part of her life.

Sad news became worse.  A CT scan revealed the cancer had spread to the fluid in her brain. Rebecca’s doctor told her the devastating news; she was given two weeks to two months.

Rebecca's Family
Rebecca is only 41 years old.  She is a wife and a mother with two young children, Braxton (9) and Makenzie (6).  Braxton has severe autism and struggles daily.  Braxton has a tough time expressing his emotions, but he is deeply troubled.  He paces the rooms with a tense face, unable to cry.  Makenzie has anxiety and sees a counselor.  Most days she simply plays, sometimes at the feet of her mom.  At such a tender age, a sick mom is all she knows.  This is her normal. Makenzie does not remember her mom in good health.  Both children will require additional help as they deal with the death of their mother.

Rebecca’s husband, Darron, is her rock.  We are in awe of his patience and love for her.  Darron will be left alone to care for his children.  He does his best to provide for his family, but we know he is concerned.  They are a low income family.  Finances are always a struggle and especially difficult with medical bills piling up and a funeral to plan.

Rebecca has unwavering faith in her future, but she worries about the welfare of her husband and children.  She is sad about leaving them and is concerned about their security after she is gone.

Rebecca's Condition
Rebecca is on hospice.  We have shed many tears, watching her rapid decline.  She has had several seizures, a direct result of the brain cancer. She is in constant pain and deals with severe nausea.  Medication is given on a continuous basis, but sometimes it is not enough to numb the pain.

There are days when Rebecca is incoherent.  She remembers nothing on those days. We are blessed when Rebecca is lucid, but we never know when or how long she will remain that way.  Rebecca speaks little, but we hope she is aware of the love surrounding her.

We love Rebecca so very much and dread the day when we will have to say goodbye.

Your Support
Please help Darron as he looks to an uncertain future.  Support can be given in so many ways, but unfortunately finances are a reality that cannot be dismissed.

Please share Rebecca's story! Thank you for all your love and support,
