RANDY SHATTUCK'S MEDICAL FUND

Donation protected
Joan and Randy Shattuck awoke to another beautiful Sunday morning on June 18th. Father's Day was to have been a day of celebration and fun for Randy, his stepson, Bay and grandson, Dane. The three would be enjoying a fun, action-packed day at an off-road recreational park on J-59 near LaGrange. However, one tragic moment in time changed everything for Randy, his family and friends. During a simple turn, Randy's quad tipped, throwing him rolling in dust; in shock and paralyzed from the chest down.

Randy was life-flighted to Doctor's Medical Center in Modesto where MD's quickly determined he had suffered a severe whiplash-type trauma to his C4 vertebrae in his cervical spine.

After two weeks of hospital staff diligently working to stabilize him, Randy was transferred to a Modesto rehab facility for a short time and then transported via ambulance to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) for further rigorous rehabilitation.

His medical treatment and physical therapy have been grueling, to say the least. However, in spite of this daily regimen and the emotional pain of wrapping his head around life's abrupt limitations, he remains in good spirits. His faith in God and the unwavering love and support of his wife, Joan (along with extended family and friends) is helping him cope one day at a time.

Randy's prognosis is time. Joan was informed by medical staff, it could take up to six (6) months (if not more) to recover and, to what degree, we simply don't know. Although Randy is getting stronger every day, his chances of recovery remain 50/50. All positive thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.

Randy has been given a discharge date of August 8th; he will finally be returning home. However, in order for a smooth transition (per his PT/PO team at SCVMC), he must have help. Joan must acquire a wheelchair accessible van, miscellaneous wheelchair add-ons and in-home handicap equipment.

On behalf of Joan and Randy Shattuck and family, we are asking for any monetary contribution that will help offset Randy's medical equipment expenses. Thank you...and God Bless you for your support.
