Podge's Health and Well Being

Seven weeks ago, after being admitted into A & E with severe adominal pain,  my dear friend Simon (Podge) Rogers was diagnosed with Sarcoma (a cancer within his pelvis.) Sarcoma is one of the rarest forms of cancer and accounts for only 1% of all cancer cases.  As a result of the Sarcoma, Simon is already catheterised and suffering from bowel complications and has limited mobility.   Consequently,  he is unable to work and unemployed for the forseeable future.  Awaiting the date of his surgery, which will be quite extensive and could result in the loss of his bowel and bladder, he has been informed the surgery will be followed by radiotherapy and ongoing long term medication.  

After working all his life, he currently finds himself struggling to pay for his eveyday living expenses (such as mortgage, bills etc.)  Alongside this, he may have to contribute towards medical  expenses due to the type of cancer he has.

I have started this fund to ease the burden for my friend and his 15 year old son.

Any money raised will only be used for his mortgage, household bills and any medical treatment he requires.  If and when Simon returns to work, any funds raised which have not been used, will be donated to a Cancer supported charity, namely Macmillan.   Therefore, you will not only be easing the financial stress on Simon but also helping other people diagnosed with the terrible disease.

Simon loves the outdoors and could often be found on the 'Great Ridge' near where we live.  A group of his friends and myself will be 'Walking for Podge' along the Ridge on November 11th to show our support and raise funds for his 'GoFund' account. 

Gill Turner and myself will be managing the fund raising campaign for Podge and will keep you updated on his progress.  Please feel free to share his story in the hope of achieving the target.
