If you could spare $5 or more to help Lisa & Ben buy a replacement Thermomix, it would be greatly appreciated. Read the story below... Grab a glass of wine or a strong coffee. This story will either make you laugh in astonishment or cry in pain with my friends Lisa & Ben. I was getting ready for work at 6am this morning when I realised I have beef marinating in the fridge to dehydrate into beef jerky. I walk into the cupboard and grab my 5 stacker dehydrator. I spend 15 minutes carefully loading up the 5 trays and turn on the machine. With my almost 4 year old daughter and 16 month old son still in bed the machine starts making this high pitch squealing sound and a burning smell coming from the machine. Devastated I start removing the beef when my mum turns up to watch the kids. I explain to her what has happened as she makes a coffee and watches me remove the beef off the trays and clean up the mess. In the mean time my daughter has woken. My mum then suggest I should throw the dehydrator out as it is bin day. I say thats a good idea and keep packing my work stuff. I placed the trays in the sink and the base in the dehydrator box and head to work. As I drive 5 minutes around the corner I realised I forgot to take the bins out and feed my poor dogs so I ring my mum to ask her to do it. She asks did you want me to throw the dehydrator out. I say sure if you like. She asks is it the white thing on the bench and I say yep thats it. Then my son wakes and starts crying so we hang. Fast forward I spent the day looking for dehydrator replacements and purchase one from Target in Sydney. I receive a text message from my husband at 5.30pm "hey wheres the thermie" my response "on the bench". I was worried so I rang him and he confirmed nope def not here. So I ring my mum. **HEY MUM WHERES MY THERMIE?? (ask all confused).** **Mum: Hmmm I don't know. (Thinks a bit) O I threw that in the bin this morning** THAT IS RIGHT MY MUM UNPLUGGED, PICKED UP AND TOOK MY 16 MONTH OLD THERMIE AND THREW IT IN THE BIN WHICH HAS BEEN COLLECTED AND CRUSHED. SENDING IT TO AWABA TIP TO WASTE AWAY. To say I cried, had knots in the stomach and pains in the chest is a complete understatement. Don't know how this could possibly have happened, lapse of judgement, children distracting her or complete mind boggling mistake. But interesting fact the dehydrator base is also missing and its box.
