Phireak (Tim) 's Medical Expenses

Our friend Phireak (known by many as Tim) is a tuk tuk driver in Siem Reap.   On Wednesday night we believe he was the victim of a hit and run.   He has been transported to a hospital in Battambang and is currently receiving care.   Phireak's family is now going to be responsible for paying his hospital bill which is quoted as $200 per day for at least ten days.   This is a total of about $2,000 for his immediate care.   This is a huge burden for his family as a family of four in Cambodia can live on approximately $200 per month.  

Anyone that has ever met Phireak can attest to his character.  He is a lovely person, and is kind, caring, and dependable.  He works tirelessly seven days a week to support his wife and children.   In two years of knowing him I have heard countless stories of his good deeds, and have witnessed some myself.  

These funds are urgently needed and every dollar will help.  Thank you in advance for helping Phireak (Tim) and his family in this time of need!

**Update** 

On Sunday, August 13th, we were able to give the family $1,000 from all of your generous donations.  We will be able to give more in the coming days.  

Phireak is currently in and out of consciousness in the Military Region Hospital in Battambang.  He is suffering from trauma to the head and neck, and is suffering from a brain bleed.  Hopefully we will have more information about his progess in the coming days.   From the location of his head injuries it is thought that he was struck from behind (either by a person or a vehicle) while he was on his motorbike and fell forward hitting his head when he made contact with the ground.  A good samaritan found him on the side of the road with his broken helmet nearby and called emergency services.  

Phireak's wife is currently by his side to help provide the 24 hour care he needs while he is hospitalized.  This means that they are recieving no income while he is in Battambang.  

The funds that have been graciously donated are going towards helping with the hospital bills.  Donations will also  help support his wife during the time she is not able to work, allow his two children to remain in school, and will hopefully assist in alleviating some debts that were incurred as a result of his emergency services and transportation from Siem Reap to Battambang.
