Phil Rodgers Family Fund

On Monday, March 7, 2016, Phil was taken to the Emergency Room in Rutland, Vermont, by his wife Janine, after experiencing chest pains at home.  While there he experienced sudden cardiac arrest. The Emergency personnel were able to stabilize him enough to transfer him to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington for more specialized care. Phil was in Burlington for three days before the medical team at UVM decided that he would need to be transferred again, this time to the Cardiac ICU at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, due to his critical condition. Upon his arrival, he had open heart surgery and was put on full life support.

He has remained in the Cardiac ICU since his arrival at Mass General. He has not yet regained consciousness. His family waits and hopes for a miracle while medical bills and living expenses are beginning to pile up. Even in the best case scenario, Phil will be unable to work for the foreseeable future.

Phil is a beloved husband and dedicated father of three children ages 12, 14, and 16. He is loved by many and has always given generously of his time, talent, and love to his family, friends, and church. As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he has spent countless hours serving the local missionaries as the Branch Mission Leader. He is currently serving as Elders Quorum President in the Rutland Branch.

Phil is Vice-President of Design, Development and Evaluation at Living Works Education Inc., an organization devoted to saving lives through innovative training experiences that empower organizations, communities, and individuals to be safer from suicide. Prior to joining LivingWorks, he spent eleven years as an Evaluation Scientist for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. In his 25-year career as an evaluator, he has conducted evaluations in fields as diverse as education, healthcare, and instructional technology. He earned his undergraduate degree in experimental psychology from California State University Los Angeles and his Doctorate in research and evaluation methodology from Utah State University.

He always gives so much . . . now we can give back to him and his family and support them in their time of need.

Our goal is fluid as we face the reality of their needs - medical, mortgage, daily expenses - thank you for walking with them through this. We are so overwhelmed with your generous response; every penny helps them focus on Phil instead of financial concerns. ~Thank you!

My name is Nathan Astin, and I live in Wallingford, Vermont, where I am a dear friend and neighbor of the Rodgers family.  This money will go directly to Janine and her family to help them in this difficult time.  The Rodgers family will be the only ones with access to any funds collected through this effort.
