Pursuing My Dreams in Peru

For the past three months, the objective section on my resume, LinkedIn profile - and more recently, my life- has read, "I am searching for a meaningful and life-altering career in the field of Public Health...My ideal position would include a community-based day with opportunity for local and abroad travel providing outreach and public health education to under-served communities and am willing to relocate immediately for such an opportunity." I have finally found the organization and position that meets ALL of these requirements! I will be a working as a Community Coordinator with Sacred Valley Health for two years. 

Sacred Valley Health (SVH) promotes health in the underserved rural communities of Peru’s Sacred Valley. In this position, I will serve as a liaison between Sacred Valley Health and two or more of the rural communities near Ollantaytambo. 

In addition to this being my dream job, I will be have an opportunity to learn about and participate in research pertaining Peruvian uses of traditional medicine. This opportunity directly relates to my interest in both indigenous and traditional medicine.

Being a Public Health Educator is my ultimate career goal. Being able to work with Sacred Valley Health as a Community Coordinator will give me the experience and knowledge I will need in the future to pursue this goal.

Your donation will provide me with the support I need in paying for my supplies, my immersion homestay, medical and evacuation insurance, living essentials, moving, and living expenses for the first few months that I will be residing in Ollantaytamo,Peru (please see below). I will begin journey on August 26, 2014 to start my new life and job.
