Providing for Patti and her son, Gregory

Donation protected
Patti DiSanto is a smart, beautiful and vivacious woman who has been engaged in a lengthy battle with Stage 4 colon cancer. At present she is unable to work due to complications from her cancer, and needs financial support for medicine and living expenses. Patti had four years of limited success with traditional treatment at Columbia University Medical Center and Montefiore Medical Center when she began to ardently pursue alternative therapies to conquer the cancer and prolong her life.

Patti lives in an apartment in New York City with her son, Gregory, a straight A student at the High School of Art and Design, who is looking forward to college. She is having difficulty paying her rent and paying for the alternative treatments that have helped her so much. The cost of her medicines, supplements and living expenses exceed $5000 per month. Our goal is to provide for her so she can continue her treatment to fight the cancer and remain in her home.

Patti was diagnosed with colon cancer five years ago. She began her treatment for the disease at Columbia University Medical Center with surgery and an arduous round of chemotherapy. At the onset of a recurrence in 2012, she sought a second opinion at Montefiore Medical Center and proceeded with surgery and another round of chemotherapy there. In both instances, Patti eventually developed such sensitivity to the chemotherapy that she had to stop treatment without succeeding in eradicating the cancer’s growth.

Last fall, Patti’s doctors at Montefiore told her that they deemed the remaining tumors inoperable and released her from their care. Fortunately, a dear friend had already set up consultations at Mt. Sinai Hospital where she remains under the care of their specialists. At first, the surgeons there were very optimistic but upon further study of her case, cancelled the operation entirely. Patti has two tumors, the most troublesome one being adjacent to the femoral nerve on her left leg and intertwined with the main artery. Since the femoral nerve is largely responsible for the mobility of the leg, surgery would have been very complicated and she risked either losing the use of her leg or having it amputated, with no assurance of eradicating the cancer.

Patti remains undaunted by the difficulties of her situation and has received the encouragement of her doctors at Mt. Sinai. They are amazed by the effectiveness of her present therapies at keeping the cancer at bay by inhibiting the growth of the tumors. Of course her health insurance does not apply to alternative care, so she has to find the means to pay for the medicines and supplements upon which she now depends.

Patti’s life revolves around her son, Greg, who has was just inducted into the National Honor Society for the second year in a row and is celebrated for his talent as a young filmmaker. Together they are looking ahead to his future. Patti’s vitality and determination to live deserves our support. Help us reach our goal!!
