10 years ago we lost our dad, Patrick Kelly, quite suddenly. There is not a day that goes by that we don't think of him and miss him dearly. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a loyal friend, and larger than life character. To know him, was to love him.
Because this year commemorates 10 years since he has been gone, we thought it only appropriate and fitting to his memory that we do something to pay it forward. We were all so lucky to have such a close knit support group around us when he passed, but not every child who loses a family member is so lucky.
Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit bereavement camp that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. The free camps include confidence building programs and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings. Comfort Zone Camps are offered to children 7-17, and are held year-round across the country.
It costs $500 to sponsor a child to attend this camp, and we would like to send at least one child to Comfort Zone Camp this year in our dad's memory. We ask that you consider donating to our efforts. No amount is too small.
Our dad is forever alive in our hearts and memories, and it would do him proud to know that we helped other kids come to the same kind of peace that we have come to over the years.
