Who Is This
My name is Dr. Barry J.W. Franklin and I want you to share with me in blessing Pastor Joe Bedford of Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Waco, TX. Those of you who know me know I don't come on this level of life unless there is a real serious need to.
When the West, TX plant exploded on April 17, 2013, Pastor Joe Bedford was quick to united with other Pastors to organize a fund raiser program to aid victims from that tragic event.
Why Give
In the months to follow, Pastor Bedford and his wife started going through a season of health challenges. Pastor Bedford elected for himself to not take a salary February-August 2016, however, that was not revealed to the church congregation. Pastor Bedford was diagnosed with cancer on his left and right kidneys and would have to go through two major surgeries to hopefully stop the cancer. The first operation was in December 2016 and the second one was in February 2017. A small group of church members called selected members to come to a Wednesday night meeting 7PM on March 22, 2017 not approved by Pastor Bedford who was recuperating from his second kidney surgery. They put forth in this unauthorized church meeting to cut and not pay Pastor Bedford’s housing allowance, travel expensed, retirement package (which they never started) but most importantly, they voted to cut-off his health insurance while he is yet recuperating and awaiting if the operations were successful with his fight against cancer! They lowered his salary to be they only check and benefit he would receive from the church to $500.00 per week. He has not received a check from the church in over a month. Pastor Bedford has been pastor of the church for 10 years.

I am asking you to join me in a solidarity ministry of support to Pastor Joe Bedford and family that there are people who care and support them in this health and financial challenging season of their life and not all of us are down with the HST (He,She & They)auxiliary club who voted to cut off his housing, travel, retirement and health insurance. Let’s unite together in a living testimony for him as Isaiah 54:17 unfolds in his life.

This is an informal come and go affair for you to bring positive words and seeds of blessing as The Bedford Family focuses on healing in this transitional season of their life. Read Proverbs 11:25 and make checks payable to Rev. Joe Bedford. Big Mama says, “if you are helping, you are not hindering, but if you are hindering, you sho-nuff ain’t a helping!!!”.
