Orisha Tales Production of OYA

Donation protected
The Orisha Tales Repertory Radio Theatre Company founded in 1999 by David D. Wright and Anthony J. Sloan, has mounted numerous successful productions since its inception 19 years ago. As an multiple Award Winning Sound Designer, and Radio Dramatist, I have continued to be inspired and compelled to create and develop productions focused on the modalities of the Yoruba tradition.
I am a Babalorisha (an intitiated practitioner of the Yoruba Tradition for 26 years).
Orisha Tales,  has raised awareness, spiritually and culturally to  various intergenerational communities of New York City.
We have played in locations throughout New York, like, The National Black Theatre, Aaron Davis Hall, The Brooklyn Museum, The American Place Theatre, The Harlem Theater Company, Harlem School of the Arts, Frank Silveras Writers Workshop, The National Black Theatre Festival of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and The Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
We have been able to provide acting, production and technical learning opportunities to aspiring youth and adults with the desire and inclination to pursue careers in theatre and beyond..
Our productions have reached and provided information and a new sense of identity that is visualized on stage. The audiences of the "Descendants of the Middle Passage" can see themselves as royalty, kings and queens, of historical West African kingdoms.
The award winning productions are Oshun(The Goddess of Love), Sango (Lord of Thunder), and Oya (The Yoruba Dance Drama), and Obatala (King of the White Cloth).
The other productions include The Creatures (Tales from the Bush), a puppet show, and Orunmila (The Adventures of the Father of Ifa Divination), How the Orishas Got Their Powers, and The Women of Sango.
The productions are focused on a different way of being in an West African construct. The audience soon realizes that before they were slaves they were "somebody".
I am raising funds by giving you the opportunity to support my upcoming production OYA , at the historic National Black Theatre.
My latest effort is well on the way and your donations will assist me in obtaining the funds for services and other expenxes that include the rental of venue, musicians, singers, choroegrapher, dancers, actors, and technical support staff.
The funds for this campaign will be used towards expenses. We are able to use volunteers for clerical assistance, social media and front house duties.
Your donation will further my effort to realize an Off Broadway production of OYA.
No donation is too big or too small, size does not count, but your active participation in this process does.
I look forward to your continued support and appreciation of my creative and spiritual efforts on behalf of Black Theatre in particular and the legacy of Orisha Tales Repertory Radio Theatre Company.
