Our Little Heart Breaker Foundation

Hello, my name is Joshua Kenneth McRoy Jr. and
I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you about
myself and why my family is working so hard on these
fundraisers. My story began about 11 months ago when my loving
parents decided it was time to give my big sister, Kimerie, a
sweet baby to play with. Shortly after my Mommy found out she
was pregnant they got the news that I was a BOY! Daddy was so
pr...oud! They decided I needed a strong family name, so I am named
after my Daddy (Joshua) and after my papa (Kenneth). I think
they both walk a little bit taller these days! Anyway, after an
uneventful pregnancy on July 29th I made my way into this world.
I weighed an amazing 10 lbs. 9 oz. and was 21 1/4" long, pretty
impressive right. My family was so happy, but it didn't take long
for everyone to realize that something wasn't right. I was having
trouble breathing and my heart was having trouble working like
it should. Within 24 hours I needed to be transferred to Children's
Mercy for more tests..more doctors..and more worries for my
family. It was then they discovered that I had a condition called
Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. That's where my heart didn't
develop right.
I've already had my first of 3 surgeries, and talk about SCARY.
My little chest still has stiches. But I'm progressing better than
my doctors expected. Everyday, I get a little stronger and my
family is here with me through it all. Even with me getting better,
I can still see the worry in all their faces. This is a lot for a young
family to take on. My parents have insurance, but as you can guess,
that doesn't cover everything. So this is where you and my family
come together. My hope is, that today, you will search your heart,
and give what you can. Every little bit helps! Having said that, if
you decide you aren't able to help us today, that's okay. I know I
will be okay, because even if my heart needs help, it belongs to a
fighter and a little heart breaker. I am one of the lucky ones, with
a loving family that will stand beside me no matter what. I would
like to ask a small favor of you. Tonight when you are home with
your sweet babies, please give them lots of hugs and kisses, because
we are not promised tomorrow, and every day we get to spend
together is a blessing! You never know what a new day will bring
for any of us, so take care of yourself and each other! Thanks so
much for reading my story. Love, Josh.
