Our Off Grid Dream Home
Donation protected
Harrison and I have everything we could every ask for... great family, friends and a future to look forward to. We are getting married on Sept 20th of this year and trying to register at department stores has left us overwhelmed and less than thrilled. Instead of picking out frivolous or unneeded things to add to our gift registry, we decided to allow our guests to help us make a down payment on our first home..... our dream home.
The house sits on 32 acres and was built to be off grid. There is no running water or septic tank so the current owners haul well water and use an out house. We plan on installing a composting toilet and experimenting with rain water recycling systems.
29 of the acres are woods and marsh which are ideal for hunting (Harrison loves this <3 ). The rest of the land contains several organic vegetable gardens and fruit trees, alongside a large chicken coop and small green house. We plan on building a walipini (underground greenhouse). In the greenhouse we will continue to perfect our aquaponic system in hopes of cultivating organic food year round. Along with our tilapia, we would love to raise chickens, bees and maybe even a goat or two..... and of course a few kids!! Thanks for helping us on this wonderful journey <3
We love you all,
Shannon & Harrison
