Hurricane Irma Victim- Ossie Talley
Donation protected
**UPDATE: The first photo now show cases the beginning stages of restoring a small cottage that has been secured and relocated for the family and now we are in need of material, volunteers and/or funds to:
Sheetrock interior walls
Install interior flooring
HVAC
Septic system
Ossie Talley has a long history of community service and giving and is now at a place where she is the primary caregiver for her disabled son and is a widow. She has not been able stay abreast of the home maintenance and recently the strong winds and rain that came through the area with Hurricane Irma has resulted in her ceiling being near the point of falling in. Recently when I visited her home with an insurance adjuster it was the first time in years that I walked through her home and was deeply saddened and had to force myself to hold back the tears when I saw her living conditions. I did not want her to know that I found her living conditions deplorable; but, the state farm agent told her that the house was too far gone to save and that while the storm did magnify the damage, the damage preexisted and the insurance payout would be less than a few hundred dollars. The second photo and those that follow it are pictures of her family's current living conditions.
There is no better feeling in this world to me than the joy this type of giving produces. I am personally dedicated to funding this gift to provide Ossie Talley with a safe and comfortable place to live, but would like to invite as many others as are willing to help make this happen for her within the shortest possible time line.
Currently there are soldiers based in Fort Benning and Fort Gordon that are spearheading the fundraising campaign.
