My baby, Oreo, Needs Your Help
As many of you already know, my baby, my prince, my angel, and my child is Oreo. Oreo is 9 years old and he was born in September of 2005- yes, around Katrina. However, he is anything but a hurricane. Oreo is a food-lover, salad-eater, kiss and hugs-giver, spoiled child. Oreo has truly been an angel- for my family and for ME.
Sadly, Oreo has struggled with back problems for a while, but he has been able to lead a normal life until now by taking an aspirin here and there. Unfortunately, last night, January 6, one of the discs in Oreo's spine ruptured and is pushing on his spinal cord. Oreo is currently paralyzed from the waist down and he is in an insane amount of pain.
I do not have a biological child, but Oreo really and truly IS my baby. I cannot put into words the desperation we felt last night as we rushed him to the emergency room. I woke up at 4am still able to hear him crying from the pain earlier that night.
He has been on a lot of meds to keep the pain manageable but we need to do something soon. The surgeon explained that the only choice is to do surgery and remove the build-up from the ruptured disk. The initial surgery costs are $4,928, the ER fee was $110, and leaving him there overnight cost between $232-$403. I am an ESL teacher for elementary and middle school and I, alone, cannot afford to save my baby. If you can understand, sympathize or feel the pain that I feel, please... any support will help.
