Ocean's Journey to Recovery

On March 23, during a weekend hike in Sedona, Arizona, our dear friend Ocean slipped and fell 8 feet off a rocky ledge. As she fell, she literally thought she was going to die. Somehow she landed on her feet, severely breaking both of her feet. Every single bone in her right foot is broken, and her left heal is completely shattered. Her right foot is in a cage, held together with rods and metal plates. Her left foot is in a cast. She will not be able to put her feet on the ground for at least 3 months (end of June at the earliest). She essentially needs full time care during this first phase. The recovery from this will take at least a year, with multiple surgeries, countless hours of physical therapy, and intense determination to heal.



Ocean's spirits are high and she's determined to get through this with every fiber of her being. Our very independent Ocean is humbled by the knowledge that she cannot do this alone. 

She is a single mother with a 16 year old daughter Alexandria. She is self employed and currently unable to work - Her job was representing a company at major trade shows throughout the US, and that is now impossible. Her income came to an immediate halt when she fell.




Now we are asking that Ocean's friends, family, and colleagues come together to raise funds to help Ocean and Alexandria with medical costs and living expenses that lay ahead of them. The Medical bills and physical therapy have an enormous cost that Ocean cannot manage alone. We want to relieve the financial pressure and assure that Ocean can focus on rehabilitation and full recovery.

Our goal is to raise more than enough money to cover all of Ocean's surgeries and physical therapy that are not covered by insurance, and provide living expenses until she is "on her feet again".  She needs to focus on getting well and not worrying about how to pay for it all.
