Our Dancing Daughters Mentorship

Donation protected
Kamala Chaand Dance Company, Inc. is Minnesota's premier FatChanceBellyDance®, Inc. Sister Studio and the state's leader in American Tribal Style® Belly Dance performance and instruction.

Our Dancing Daughters (ODD) is a youth mentorship program that guides, inspires, and transforms under-served and potentially at risk young women in Saint Paul by way of dance and life skills training delivered to them by the qualified instructors of Kamala Chaand Dance Company, Inc. and affiliated individuals and programs. This program is offered free of charge to young women who meet the guidelines outlined in the program.

ODD will hold a weekly three-hour after school class including topic presentation and discussion, journaling, and dancing. ODD will also be open for two hours three additional days per week for one on one instruction, homework help, and facilitation of service projects for the enrollees of the program.

Our Dancing Daughters is more than dance education. It will also be comprised of financial literacy instruction by a financial planning professional and the girls will have access to crisis mediation. ODD will also work closely with empowerment groups to ensure healthy body image, access to educational resources and tutors, and scholarship information for college. Participants will also serve as educational accountability partners to their peers in the program to ensure enrollees graduate from high school.

Our Dancing Daughters was founded in concept in 2010, in practice as a class in 2012, and registered as a non-profit in the State of Minnesota in November 2014. Our Dancing Daughters has established a connection with a St. Paul High School and a community-based arts initiative to present content in the schools. Our Dancing Daughters is currently preparing a submission for Federal 501c3 non-profit status.

Our Dancing Daughters is presently funded largely by private donors. We have identified many grants that are available to our organization to aid in further funding for the program, including trainings and certifications for our staff to become experts in serving the program enrollees. Our funding will pay for the scholarships of each of the young women we take on in the program. Our donations are also helping us earn the money to pay for the necessary filings for establishing us as a Federal 501c3.

Please check out our incentives. We think we have come up with some goodies you'll appreciate in your giving. (To take advantage of our classes you'll need to travel to us.)

We thank you ahead of time for your graciousness and giving. It means a lot that you see the potential we do for the young women we look to reach in this venture.
