Nurse Kelly's Cancer Combat

Hi everyone,

 My name is Kelly Stars. I'm a 28-year-old pediatric nurse at Plantation General Hospital (Plantation, FL) who was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer, which is why. . . 

 
I NEED YOUR HELP!

 
I am presently completing a Master's degree in nursing and will become a Family Nurse Practitioner, while having spent the last 5 years of my career caring for ill children, never thinking one day I would be the patient needing to be cared for. On April 11, 2014, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (breast cancer). I will be undergoing a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction and chemotherapy. The fortunate news is that my insurance is projected to cover a great portion of the medical expenses; however there will still be some ongoing expenses that are not covered, which is why I'm turning to you for help:

 
The two key areas in which you can support the "Nurse Kelly's Cancer Combat" campaign are:

 

1.     Monetary donations to help offset the expenses not covered by insurance

2.     Any words of encouragement left on my Facebook fan page (Nurse Kelly's Cancer Combat) wall (something to help lift my spirits when the journey seems to feel overwhelming). 

 
This is indeed a fundraising campaign, however I would like to remind everyone of what my mother (Nurse Lyn Balzer) went through 14 years ago when she lost her battle to breast cancer, I ask for your help not only in honor of my fight but also in honor of my mother who was truly the strongest woman I will ever know.
