Nottingham Hackspace are making PPE for the NHS

Who are we?
We are the Nottingham Hackspace, a member run co-operative workshop in St Ann's, Nottingham, our 720 members are from all over the Nottingham area and East Midlands region. We have laser cutters, 3D printers and sewing machines and other advanced equipment not only in our space but with our keen volunteer members at home all over the region.
Key Points
➼ We have been working with Kitronik, the NCGPA (Nottingham City GP Alliance) and NUH (Nottingham University Hospitals)
➼ We have already distributed around 300 visors to GPs and clinics in Nottingham city and around the East Midlands
➼ We want to increase our output and supply masks where they're urgently needed in our region
Our Mission
Members at the Nottingham Hackspace have been working day and night to produce Personal Protective Equipment for the Nottingham City GP Alliance since Wednesday 25th March when a call came in from the NCGPA.
Since then members have been laser cutting and 3D printing several versions of face shields. The first versions we produced were based on the RC3 mask designed by Prusa. Hackspace members have since teamed up with Sean Drummond and the team at Kitronik, another Nottingham based company to design a PP laser cut face shield that can be made very quickly. Further to face shields, the hackspace is also hoping to make and supply cotton face masks too.
New requests have come in from all over the county and region and we've been able to help lots of schools get involved too by sharing files and information through a members forum.
We're getting lots of requests from front line healthcare staff for face shields and we can make more as we have the equipment and our members have the expertise, but we're running out of materials and our finances as volunteers are already strained.
Please consider making a contribution to the our GoFundMe and we'll make sure we can keep costs low and where possible send this much needed equipment out to local hospitals and clinics for free!
How will the money be spent
➼ Delivery & Collection of the PPE we are making.
➼ To cover running costs of the equipment.
➼ Raw material cost.
➼ Gloves, cleaning sprays & wipes to keep our members safe.
➼ Where appropriate we will pay a modest living wage to the volunteers working day and night on this.
