Memorial Tribute Event: Norman Lane, Jr.

Donation protected
On July 12, 2014, the Brownsville (TN) Arts Council (one hour's drive from Memphis International Airport) will host a reunion of Vietnam veterans who served with H&S and Kilo Companies, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, in Quang Tri Province over 1967-68. The reunion is focused on a Memorial Tribute to Lt. Norman E. Lane, Jr., who was killed in action while serving his Country with Kilo Co. on March 29, 1968. Ten Marines who knew and/or served with Lt. Lane have been contacted, and the family of LCpl. Vincent Santaniello, also of Kilo Co., will be represented by his nephew. The Fallen Heroes Project and The Michael G. Reagan Portrait Foundation will be represented as well. These Marine Corps veterans will join with Lt. Lane's extended family, friends, and former students to celebrate his life and to remember his service and sacrifice. Oral histories will be obtained from veteran and friend alike, and DVD's of the event will be made available. Roundtrip air travel is requested from origin to MEM for ten of these honored guests. Two of the guests live within driving distance, and airfare is not being requested. Other local lodging and per diem expenses for the veterans are also requested, as is support for event expenses (programs, DVD production and distribution, event posters, etc.). The audience of 300-350 for this two-hour event will be broad and will include local Vietnam veterans. All interested persons will be welcome to attend, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, genetic information, disability and veteran status. This request is especially consistent with America's passion for supporting present and former members of the U.S. Military.
