Tumour profiling for My Beloved

Donation protected
My husband was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in May 2015.  The tumour so large it obstructed his bowel. Resection of bowel surgery followed.  Chemotherapy followed.  Unknown to us it was in his peroteneal cavity and omentum and were not told. God sent us a person who directed us in a way that conventional doctors did not do. Returned in liver. Liver resection followed. chemotherapy followed still no-one doing anything about peritoneal. We did research after being told only option being palliative chemo. We found a mammoth operation called perenectomy and hipec from a world wide surgeon Prof. David Morris who saved Davids life after being told by Queensland there is nothing they can do.  It has been 11 months and David has been recuperating all that time with chemotherapy.  He is a fighter and many specialists have said he is always beating the odds.  Chemotherapy stopped July this year and a scan has shown it has now protruded through the diaphragm and into the pleura.  We went to Sydney in an effort to find someone before it entered the lungs and specialists did not get back to us until three weeks after many many phone calls/emails.  Prof. Morris recommended targeted radiation. In three weeks for those specialists not moving fast enough it has entered Davids lung significantly.

We drove to Toowoomba in a last ditch effort to find someone to do radiation. The answer no again. But that radiation oncologist recommends genetic profiling of the tumour as many cancers are treated with drugs for the primary cancer.  but without knowing the genetic makeup of the tumour many cancers are treated with drugs that don’t fit that type of cancer.

So “Precision Oncology” based in Australia takes biopsies, so in-depth analysis, sends it to the states and matches it with the drugs that kill the cancer at a cost of $9, 600.I just watched a video with a lady with 4th stage bowel cancer 37 kgs, and the drug that is used for breast cancer has given her another seven years and she is doing great.

I love my husband so much as many of you can appreciate, we just got married, we have a combined young children and we will not give up or sit down because specialists will not go outside of the box.

I am sitting here with a heavy heart, wet eyes and pleading for any donations that will help our journey.

And those people “1 in 3” they say who have lost someone to cancer or who knows someone with cancer, don’t ever stop fighting, do your research, and don’t ever close your mind to being told one thing.

Any donations will be used towards the profiling of the tumour. David’s CEA level (Cancer tumour marker) is rising at an extremely fast rate and activity is significant so time is running out quick.

How this profiling will work, we will be able to identify the correct targeted therapy which will elongate his life and give him quality of life to live with his wife, finish raising his children and being a part of their milestones.

We have walked this journey alone and have never asked for help, but are in a situation where we have no choice and little time.
