A growing school community in Honduras is facing a major obstacle: they no longer have access to a functioning computer lab.

This year, their lab was closed after the equipment reached the end of its usable life. Even before that, resources were extremely limited only 7 computers were available, forcing 2 to 3 students to share a single device during class. Despite these challenges, students remained eager to learn and make the most of every opportunity.

Today, enrollment has increased, with classes of up to 24 students. However, without access to computers, an essential part of their education has been put on hold. To meet the needs of every student, the school requires at least 25 computers ensuring each learner has equal access to critical academic tools.

Computer science education is no longer optional; it is fundamental. It equips students with the technological skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence they need to succeed in today’s world. Without these resources, students risk falling behind in an increasingly digital society.

In addition, the school also faces a shortage of musical instruments, limiting students’ ability to explore creativity, teamwork, and expression through music education. Access to instruments is just as important as access to technology, as it helps students develop discipline, confidence, and a deeper connection to learning.

Computer science and music education together play a vital role in preparing students for the future. They build both technical and creative skills, encourage problem-solving, and give students the tools to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
