Mum's fight with the BIG C!

Donation protected
Hello!

I'm April from the Philippines and currently living in the UK.  My mum's name is Nenita, she is 59 years old, already retired from work and she is currently enjoying taking care of my nephew in the Philippines.

Last December 22, 2017, just before Christmas, she found a cyst on her right breast; she had a mammogram and sonogram right after Christmas and it rendered an assessment for malignancy.

In January 25, 2018 she went through a mastectomy of her right breast, and the the biopsy of the mass that was taken out from her, confirmed it to be  cancerous.

She had to undergo further tests to assess what kind of treatment would be suitable for her. Her breast cancer was assessed to be stage 2A which means she needs to undergo chemotheraphy. And in addition  a FISH* test was done to her, this test is to see if the cells on her body is aggressive to regenerate cancer cells which means high chance of the cancer recurring. Unfortunately, it turned out to be positive.

*Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is a test that “maps” the genetic material in a person's cells. This test can be used to visualize specific genes or portions of genes. FISH testing is done on breast cancer tissue removed during biopsy to see if the cells have extra copies of the HER2 gene

The treatment protocol for her would be  4 sessions of AC + 4 sessions of T  for the chemotherapy. And
18 sessions of Herceptin to mitigate the regeneration of cancer cells.  Each sessions will be performed every 3 weeks.

The cost of the AC and T sessions is roughly around £1,000 (Php 70,000) per session, while the Herceptin is £2,150 (Php 150,000) per session.

Unfortunately there is no health insurance in the Philippines, which means we need to pay for all her medications.

Apart from this she has hypertension and diabetes, which might lead to further complications.

The therapy (alone would cost £46,700 or Php 3million)  plus the check ups, other medication, and her maintenance for hypertension and diabetes would cost us a fortune.

Her birthday is on 2 December and she is turning to Big 6-0!

We would like her to celebrate her birthday with us, and hoping for many more birthdays!

We would like her to celebrate life and be able to see and continue to enjoy taking care of her grandchild and future grandchildren.

We would like her to stay longer and be able to inspire other cancer patients that the BIG C is something we can fight and survive!

Help us make all of these possible!

Any amount you provide would help us a lot to fund her therapy. This will help alleviate the financial burden we have and help us focus more on helping her get well and live her life to the fullest.

On behalf of my family thank you all in advance!
