Ywam DTS

Dear friends,

I am desiring to further my growth in my faith by being part of Youth With a Mission's (YWAM) Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Tauranga, New Zealand. This discipleship course begins January 22 and ends in June 8. It consists of three months of training at the school, then three months of an international missions trip at a location to be determined, then a time of debriefing. I hope that my time there will deepen my prayer life and help point me further in the direction of God's plan for me.

Some background on me and how I came to Christ. I grew up in a Christian home and went to church every Sunday. Somewhere in my teen years, I decided to follow my own path and got into drugs and alcohol. That carried on for many years. Then other difficult circumstances happened in my life, and at that point I had hit rock bottom. One night, I was sitting outside smoking a cigarette looked up and said, "God, if you really exist show me, 'cause right now I don’t think you do nor have I seen anything to prove that you do. " A few days later, depression got the best of me and I had a knife against my wrist ready to end it all, but no matter how much I wanted to, I couldn’t go through with it. So, I put the knife down and going to bed that night, I had the most intense dream I have ever had. I heard a voice that said, "Come, I want to show you something." I had no idea who it was or where the voice was coming from, but I felt such a calmness. I remember rising out of my body and going up. When we got to where he wanted to take me, I heard the voice again which said, "I have plans for you; don’t give up." A few minutes later, that same voice said, "It's not your time; I’m sending you back." I responded, "Let me stay. For the first time in my life I’m actually happy." Again, he said, "It's not your time; I’m sending you back," and again I said, "Let me stay." Again he said, "It's not your time I’m sending you back." Before I could say anything, I started to fall and when I reached my body, I woke up, wondering if this was just a dream or something else. After talking to few different people, they all agreed that it was Jesus speaking to me. Ever since then, I have been a devoted Christian and I feel a strong calling to do mission work. So that brings us back to the YWAM DTS. I am excited for this opportunity and am thankful to God for bringing me this far. The cost of this trip is approximately $15000 CDN, which will cover the flights there and back, food and lodgings, the school fees, and the outreach event. I would love it if you could pray for me, that God will work in my life and through me during my time away, and that He would supply all my needs for this trip. In addition, if you are willing to support me financially, please send the funds to me directly via cheque.
