NOMA is an exploration of sight, sound and movement which uses a variety of mediums and artistic forms to tell the story of a little girl's struggle. The journey, told through aerial acrobatics, dance, sound sculpture, music and painting, is experienced alongside the girl as a dark force (whatever that may be) takes hold of her and progresses. In the end, we are left with the question: does she have a choice?
NOMA is a collaborative, improvised piece created by group of aerialists, dancers and musicians in Brooklyn, NY. It is a part of Theater for the New City's Dream Up! Festival and will premiere in September 2015 with no two identical performances. It strives to explore the interconnectedness between art forms, physical senses, and even human experiences. It exists not only for the artists who have created it, but for anyone who has experienced trauma, illness or disease. The darkness touches us all. But in navigating the dark, we create light.
