Help These Puppies Beat The Odds!

Hello all! NJSRN is in need of your financial help so that we can pay medical bills associated with several puppies with severe health issues that were recently surrendered to us.

Several months ago NJSRN accepted Cupid, a sweet black Mini Schnauzer with severe pulmonic stenosis, a cardiac disease in which 30% of dogs experience sudden death. The chance of him having a normal life even with the required heart surgery was not promising. But it was decided NJSRN must provide him the surgery that would give him an opportunity to live a normal life. And who could say no to a cute face like this...


Even with the generous rescue discount provided by the wonderful vets at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital (RBVH) the bills quickly rose to over $2,500 for the surgery and pre/post surgery monitoring and testing. Cupid came out of surgery with flying colors and is on the road to recovery and a happy healthy life. Yay for Cupid!

Within weeks of saving Cupid’s life, we were contacted about Bingo and June, 11 week old Mini Schnauzers who were malnourished and couldn't walk. Two of their litter mates had already died; their owner was not able to afford providing June and Bingo the care they required. NJSRN could not turn its back on these puppies!

We knew they would require significant care and medical monitoring. Upon arrival at a NJSRN foster home, we discovered the puppies could not swallow correctly or stand to eat. They had to be held up when they pottied because they were too weak to stand and would fall into their own excrement. Additionally, it was determined that Bingo and June can't feel pain or changes in temperature.

These puppies require constant supervision. Food has to be home cooked for them and their foster parents closely monitor meals and drinking so the puppies do not choke. They had a recent vet visit for x-rays for a pneumonia scare and to explore pelvic problems affecting their ability to walk normally. Imagine puppies that are unable to play chase or fetch toys …. so sad!

We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of Cupid's surgery as well as the bills that are starting to pile up for Bingo and June. These pups deserve a fighting chance and we need your help to make that happen!
