My House Productions Fundraiser

My House Productions needs your help to produce our first Television Pilot, \"Lucid\"! We are a passionate group of seven senior Ryerson Radio and Television Arts students who are working hard to produce a creative drama pilot for our final Thesis project. By Producing this pilot, we hope to be eligible to show case our project to VIPs from across the media industry through a program called RTA Upfront* which takes place at Corus Entertainment.

The Story of LUCID:

James is not the man he once was. His attractive confidence and contagious laugh are now blanketed with a layer of bland indifference. A year ago, the James' everyone knew and loved disappeared when his girlfriend, Annie, fell into a sudden coma and died. Now unmotivated and lame, he lives bunked out in an old Airstream trailer on the edge of his parent's property and spends most of his time drinking, falling asleep in front of the TV and waking up with cracker crumbs in his belly-button.

Other than accepting visits from Annie's younger sister, Charlie, James is withdrawn and anti-social and occupies himself by replaying memories and looking through Annie's belongings to help keep her memory alive. He especially treasures a journal she wrote in, which focuses on dreams. Annie had always been passionate about her dreams and would describe many of them to James, but prior to reading the journal, he did not understand the extent of her obsession. A page titled "How to Dream" particularly intrigues James which outlines in detail the steps necessary to "dream".

James tries out these steps one night and he experiences a vivid and lucid dream. The dream is exhilarating and he continues to have them as often as possible. In these reoccurring, dreams he begins to see Annie in the settings of a strange Utopia. But something is not right. Whenever James attempts to get close to her, she runs away and all of the dreams end in the same fruitless and desperate chase. One night, James' finally touches Annie and his dreams quickly turn to nightmares.

James begins to question the line between reality and fantasy as he unknowingly starts to live a double life in an unfamiliar territory - A place that his girlfriend had been secretly exploring her entire life.
