Ms. Judy needs us!

Most people know her as Ms. Judy. I prefer to call her Mom. If I had to choose just one word to describe her, it would be “giving”. For as long as I can remember, my mom has always been helping others. She volunteered numerous hours for youth programs at Gulf High School, helped children and their families at her day care, served her community through the American Red Cross, and given her time to countless random acts of kindness to strangers and those with the greatest need.

What makes Mom special is that she helps others with a smile on her face. It’s a smile that I have seen disappear over the past few months after each visit to the hospital. A smile that is being replaced with worry and fear. A worry that she will not get to see her daughter and son start their own families. A fear that she might not be able to afford the life-saving treatment that will allow her to continue making this world a better place.

As much as Mom gives, she doesn’t like asking for help. So, that’s where I come in. She needs directed prayers, positive thoughts, and financial acts of kindness to help her get through the kidney and liver transplant process. The estimated cost for the liver transplant alone and associated treatment is: $577,100. Even after the insurance is accounted for, there is still $115,500 left to pay. So, my goal is to raise $75,000. Your financial donation, however small, will mean a lot to me. Most importantly, it will help a woman who has touched the lives of many people with her selflessness and smile, a woman I am proud to call Mom.
