Ms. Cathy, or "Ms. Caffy" as named by her
pre-school students, is the kind of teacher every parent wants their child to
be blessed with. She's kind, nurturing, positive, and intelligent.
Her classrooms are happy environments and her children love her.
Outside of school, Cathy is a single mother of two children. Her son is serving overseas in the US Military and her 18-year old daughter is living with her at home.
Recently Cathy was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. Her treatment began immediately and will consist of 4 months of chemotherapy administered every other week. Although she knows that the fight against cancer will be a tough one, she has her characteristically positive and upbeat attitude. The day after her first treatment, Cathy was in her classroom like any other day, smiling and ready to do what she does best.
Cathy has insurance with a yearly deductible of $9500. Knowing that cancer is a long fight, she will surely have to meet that deductible both this and next year. Also, her out-of-pocket costs, which include her co-pays and co-insurances, will add to her financial burden.
