I WROTE A MOVIE FOR TORY ~ MY LOVE WHO PASSED AWAY
On October 14th, 2017, my girlfriend and best friend, Tory DeOrian, passed away. Her vibrant energy, whimsical artwork, and adoration of pizza are what made Tory Tory. And I was Tory’s “Pizza” for the last two years of her life.
The way Tory lived was inspiring. It was a privilege to witness her personify passion, working 14 hours a day doing what she loved, illustration :-)
As a screenwriter, I feel compelled to share her wisdom and amazing zest for living!... Through a movie in her honor, inspired by her character. True, silly, sweet events in our relationship capture Tory’s spirit and our love.
What I’ve created in the wake of her absence is a film script inspired by Tory.
ABOUT THE SCRIPT:
Before Tory passed, she inspired me to enter a contest to get a screenwriting fellowship I’d been admiring. I did--and the script made the finals, placing in the top 1% (top 20 out of over 2,000 submissions). That script is an earlier version of this movie for Tory.
Writing movies has been my passion for a decade. I’ve now written 20 screenplays. But this most recent project matters beyond all others, born of love for Tory.
For reference, the movie is tonally akin to 500 DAYS OF SUMMER and ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND.
ABOUT THE PLAN:
One of Tory’s favorite quotes was: “Leave no stone unturned.”
To give our story the best opportunity to be made into a movie, utilizing all the resources the film industry offers writers, I will enter: competitions, fellowships, labs, and pitch sessions. I will also apply to be listed on the renowned Black List, a forum for the best unproduced scripts.

The seduction of safety is far more dangerous than the discomfort of uncertainty. In Tory’s 25 years, against all odds, she became a professional illustrator, making her creative work her livelihood. This life path took courage and determination. She wouldn’t take “no” for an answer.
This GoFundMe is inspired by her bravery and tenacity. I feel a new inner fire. I’ve been seduced by safety for so long: I’m ready to be uncomfortable.
