#MORRISSEY STRONG

Kevin J Morrissey is a hard working, fun loving, smart, funny, sports loving 39 year old who lives in Woodbury MN, and works at MNSure in downtown St. Paul. On July 28th of this year, he was found on the floor semi conscious and unable to speak or move. Kevin, so young, had suffered a right hemisphere stroke and brain bleed.  His very life was on the line.  Kevin spent 19 days in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit of Regions hospital.  He was intubated, unconscious, and unresponsive. He fought back!  After the 19 days in the ICU, he spent 4 weeks in the Acute Therapy Rehab Unit to see what of his paralyzed left side could come back. As his brain started the hard work of remapping nerves to send messages to his non functioning limbs, Kevin began a new journey in the Transitional Rehab -- working hard every day to relearn how to move and control his muscles. Kevin can now walk with assistance, but his left leg is still not under complete control.  His left arm is not working but we hold out hope for him to regain that also.  At the end of October Kevin will be heading home -- and there needs to be many changes made to accommodate the "New Normal" that Kevin must now face.  Kevin's family is working to modify his home  -  bathrooms, kitchen, living room, laundry room all need modifications and grab bars -- His pets need new leads and yard guards to insure their safety.  While his insurance covers many of his medical bills, he is unable at this time to work as outpatient therapies will be needed for at least another 6 months.
