"Adventure is a path. Real adventure "“ self-determined, self-motivated, often risky "“ forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind "“ and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white." "“ Mark Jenkins
My trial team partner told me the other day that I am a pit-bull disguised as a muffin =) The imagery makes me really scared and really hungry at the same time. Nonetheless, I believe that my disarming nature will serve me well as a future litigator.
Like Mr. Jenkins, I, too, desire to see the world as it is and not as I believe it to be. I have been accepted into Seton Hall's Winter Intersession Study Abroad for law students and will be traveling to Zanzibar, Africa over my 2[phone redacted] winter break. The program will focus on Modern Day Slavery and Human Trafficking...both of which can be likened to evil twins capturing millions within their clutches each year.
Even though the enslavement of millions seems like ancient history, hundreds of thousands and potentially millions of people are being trafficked across borders and sold into slavery today. This program will equip me with the knowledge to understand these horrible crimes and the tools to stop the perpetrators as a future attorney.
Missing Christmas and New Years pales in comparison to the knowledge that I will gain during this educational experience; however, in order for me to have this experience I will need your help.
To fund this trip I will need money for the following:
- Airfare: ~ $2000
- Hotels, Transport & Transportation w/n Tanzania: $1500
- Tuition: $4500
- Various Fees: ~ $600
- Vaccinations: $500
- Miscellaneous Expenses: $1000
- Optional Safari: $2400
Every penny donated WILL go towards funding this educational experience.

I am truly passionate about ending violence against ALL people...men, women and children. I recognize that my ability to even ask for assistance in this endeavor is a privilege in itself. First, I have obtained a bachelor's degree and now, Lord willing, I am pursuing and will obtain a law degree. Many have not been afforded the luxury of either.
Nonetheless, I know that I have a long journey ahead of me and I also realize that I am only one person; however, I can use my voice, my passion, and my education to become a zealous advocate and help those suffering in silence. That is the least that I can do.
Thank you in advance for your assistance as I embark on this journey. Donations in ANY amount are happily and humbly accepted.
