Ever the social, active and inquisitve gato, Mike keeps me to a schedule that includes long cuddles, heated debates on the frequency & quantity of treats as well daily walks as many of you are aware.
Monday evening, during one of our evening strolls, Mike and a distracted motorist collided. Mike sustained injury to his left back foot-- pulling away his skin and pads. Currently we have two options: 1) Allow some swelling to go down. Have daily bandage changes under sedation. Wait to see if the pad and skin can be saved; if the pad cannot be saved 2) Amputation. For such an active little fellow, this would be unheartbreaking.
If you know me- even if superficially, you may have gathered that I'm not the sort to ask for help. However in this unexpected event I must do what is not comfortable for me, but best for that furry dude you all know and love.
If possible, please contribute to this fund for Mike's treatment at Advanced Veterinary Care here in Salt Lake City. Our current focus is to save his foot.
Mike can be salty with his surly attitude, but I never saw him as a pirate.
