Michelle Needs A Kindey

I have had Lupus (an autoimmune disease) for the past 22 years. Until recently, I have led a very active and productive lifestyle. In December of 2010, I fulfilled a lifelong dream and graduated from Spelman College with a degree in Human Services. Shortly after graduating, I begin to feel really tired and totally exhausted after walking only a few steps. In May of 2011, I went to my doctor who ran all kinds of tests and referred me to a nephrologist (kidney doctor). This nephrologist ran several tests and confirmed that I had Lupus Nephritis (disease of the kidney caused by Lupus). I had to quit my career of being a Police Officer(that I held for over 20 years).
Since May 2011, I have suffered two strokes and had several other medical set backs to include currently dealing with hypertension. I am also currently on dialysis to help me until I have a transplant. I was recently placed on the "transplant list" to be able to receive a new kidney.
When ( I am very hopeful) I receive my new kidney, I will be able to return to my old lifestyle. My medical expenses (medicine) will be very expensive and that's why I chose this site to assist me.
