Michaela's Journey
Donation protected
Wilson Disease is a rare genetic disorder of impaired copper metabolism that causes serious copper poisoning. It severely affects the body's ability to regulate copper balance, resulting in life-threatening damage to the liver and other organs if left untreated. Michaela was diagnosed with this very rare disease in April of this year. Wilson disease requires lifelong treatment and can be successfully managed with medication therapy and a low-copper diet in most patients. Even with insurance, medical bills can be a financial burden. From doctor’s bills and insurance co-pays to travel costs and lost wages this is why we want to help the Valkavich family during this difficult time. Please join the Andes Central School community in supporting Michaela and her family. For more information on Wilson Disease you can visit - https://www.wilsonsdisease.org/
