Michael Cox's servant heart

Donation protected
If any of you know my husband, he will give you the shirt off his back or the gloves off his hands if you need them.  He will stop and pull you out of ditch or help you change a tire.  He enjoys using his hands (and his back) to help those who need it. Being a servant is what feeds his soul.

The picture is of my daughter and I welcoming him home from a trip to Nicaragua where he helped build a family a home.

About 3 months ago he started having intermittant pain in his back.  The past month or so has been unbearable.  He is not able to help around the house, work full time or even play with our daughter.  He is miserable - yet doesn't complain.  We tried a spinal block - but it did not help. He is so ready to have relief and get back to life helping those around him. It just kills him that he can not do things with our family or participate with the Disaster Relief Teams going to help this fall.

Michael is a helper.  He is a big guy that is not accustomed to asking for help and frankly doesn't like it.
He wants to do for himself and others.  Some times though, it is good to be able to ask for help and accept help.  He is currently vunerable and we are learning as a couple and a family that God does his best work through vunerabililty.  God is teaching us a lot through this ordeal.

Within the last 24 hours we have discovered that Michael needs immediate back surgery to hopefully keep him from having any permanent disability.  His herneated disc is between the L5 and S1.  We are scheduled for surgery 9/15/17.  Recovery will be 12 weeks with physical therapy and a lot of rest.

We are very thankful to have a supportive family and church family.  Words can not express our gratitude for the prayers answered and the consistant support.  Our village has rallied the last 24 hours. It has been overwhelming and reassuring of just how Big and Great our God is!

While we are thankful for the medical insurance we have - it will  not cover everything and we do not want to go into debt to get him and keep him healthy.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.  And prayers are always welcomed and treasured. Thank you in advance dear brothers and sisters!

Please note: Any money raised above and beyond our medical bills will be used to pay it forward to others who may need it.
