Kao Odukale Memorial Fund

As Kao's close friends, we've been touched by the multiple tributes we have seen from people who loved Kao. For so many of us, Kao's passing has been incredibly difficult and emotional. Hearing about his impact on others and the positive influence he's had on their lives has meant a lot to his friends and family.

From his earliest days and throughout his life, Kao was incredibly kind and caring. He connected with people of all ages, races, and backgrounds. His smile, laughter and insights were available to everyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with him.

His greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family, his students and colleagues, and joking around and meeting new people.  He loved to have fun and he inspired those around him to enjoy themselves.  Many of our best moments were shared with Kao and we know without a doubt others would say the same thing. Laughing with Kao was a true joy.

Kao also had a deep commitment to making the world and the lives of people around him better. For nearly twenty years his career was dedicated to educating students and helping kickstart their careers. He worked tirelessly to make the colleges he ran communities where students and staff developed meaningful relationships and felt appreciated. He also volunteered his time and money to improve the lives of children here in the US and in Nigeria where he visited often and gave generously.

Although his life ended too soon, the impact he made on all of us lives on.  We are proud and honored to have had Kao as a close friend.  We will forever miss him and honor him for the beautiful person he was.

Many people have reached out and asked what they can do to help.  If you are so moved, please consider making a contribution to a memorial fund in Kao’s honor. Money will be used to help the family with the expenses of saying goodbye to Kao.

Sincerely,
Jesse, Casey, Adam, Davi, and Gabe
