Matt J to beat cancer

Hi, my name is Aimee and my husband Sam and I are fundraising to help Sam’s brother with medical bills and travel expenses.

Sam’s brother, Matt was diagnosed with Nodular Metastatic Melanoma on August 11th, 2022 after having what he thought was a simple cyst removed from his head. On September 1st he underwent a Wide Local Excision at the Main U to remove a larger portion of the scalp to make sure all of the cancerous tumor was removed. He also had a sentinel lymph node biopsy that same day. On September 8th, he got the results of the lymph node biopsy back and cancer was found in 1 of the 2 lymph nodes. September 26th he went back to the Main U where Matt had a Modified Radical Neck procedure done to remove more lymph nodes in the neck. The Plastic surgeon also did a rearrangement procedure to cover the open wound left by the wide local excision and so that he can grow hair back in that spot. At this point his diagnosis is Malignant Nodular Melanoma stage 3C. He will be starting Immunotherapy in 4-6 weeks which will go for a year. He will also have a PET CT done in 4-6 weeks to check for any other spread of the cancer which could change his diagnosis to stage 4 and could involve more treatment or procedures. Matt has 3 beautiful girls and a loving wife who have been by his side through all of this. It’s been rough couple of weeks for everyone digesting this news.
